Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) is the 4th generation of retinoids, aka granactive retinoid (GR), which is oil-soluble and readily absorbed. It is the only one that does not need any metabolic changes to be effective, except for tretinoin and retinoic acid. It has a direct interaction with the skin's retinoid receptors.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are enzymes that break down collagen, but this ingredient blocks them and stimulates the skin to produce more of its own collagen (type I & III). As a result, the epidermis becomes denser and thicker, and the skin's natural moisturizing component, glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), and protein filaggrin are induced.
Oskia employs Hemi-squalane, a superb saturated, plant-sourced fat, to repair the lipid barrier while reducing sebum production, making it ideal for acne-prone skin.

Hemi-Squalane: plant-derived, saturated fat that restores the lipid barrier, balances the skin’s natural oils, and improves hydration and smoothness. Saturated oils have single bonds within their fatty acid chains, which makes them more stable and resistant to free-radical attack.

How to use
FOR: all skin types; Fragrance-free.
Use it in the evening as part of your skincare routine.
Twist the capsule and apply the serum on the treatment area, 2 or 3 evenings per week if new to retinol, or nightly if preferred.
Follow with your preferred OSKIA moisturizer or oil.
Reduce frequency if sensitivity occurs.
It can be used after water-based serums and before facial oils or moisturizers.
We recommend it for those 28 years and above unless treating acne, scarring, or hyperpigmentation.
CAUTION:
Avoid eye contact; if this occurs, rinse well with warm water.
Do not use it on broken skin. Keep away from children.
Do not use it during pregnancy, lactation, or with other retinol/retinoid treatments.
This product may make your skin more sensitive to the sun; please use SPF during the day.
Editor's note
This product is the perfect take on Oskia’s Retinoid Sleep Serum Level 2, and is contained in these small bio-degradable capsules that allow the product to remain fresh and intact for as long as you use them.
Since this is a retinoid product, make sure to introduce it gradually.
Our preferred way is to mix it with a thick moisturizer for the first couple of uses. Afterward, it can be applied directly to your skin and used several times per week. Allow your skin to adapt to this product before using it on a nightly basis.
We also love to layer an occlusive balm after using this serum to diminish the side effects of introducing a retinoid product to our routine. It’s mandatory to use sunscreen, especially when using retinol products.
