He gave up on CK and created his own brand, based on sustainability and respect of the natural world.

A journey on the Amazon
Although born in Brazil, Francisco Costa took his first journey on the Amazon when already a grownup. Still, the moment was perfect, almost a touch of destiny one might say, as it gave him clarity and a sense of belonging to something sacred. It was a journey like no other where he got to discover and experience the rainforest step by step, one day at a time.
Francisco spent time in the isolated villages of the Amazon, on long boat rides along the rivers, discovering unique plants and flavors. He found a simple life and simple ingredients that had done wonders for centuries for the people of the rainforest.
Seeing the potential in these new found ingredients, Francisco decided to work with a team of local chemists and botanists and explore their true potential. He created rich oils and skincare products that also helped him reconnect with mother earth and this is why Costa Brazil is unique. His company is more than a skincare brand. For Francisco it is a way of expressing this new found connection and the wonders he found during his travels. Also, it is the embodiment of his strong belief that beauty is directly tied to the health of the Earth.
All Costa Brazil formulas are based on a holy trinity of ingredients, all native to the rainforest. First, there is Kaya, a super nutrient for the skin, sustainably cultivated in the rainforest, exclusively for Costa Brazil. It is nurturing, moisturizing and revitalizing, but also firming and a good boost for natural luminescence.
Second, there is Cacay, a rich oil with 50% more vitamin E than argan oil, one of the most used and renowned oils in the beauty game. Cacay is also an amazing source of vitamin A, Omega 3, 6 and 9, as well as a natural source of retinol. It works wonders against fine lines and in improving the skin tone.
Last but not least, there is breu, an aromatic resin that calms both the skin and the mind. It reduces anxiety and has powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Also, it is the signature scent of Costa Brazil.
Besides these three super ingredients, Costa Brazil uses other rainforest native ingredients such as baobab oil, buriti oil, tea tree oil and many more according to the specifics of each product. On the other hand, what they don’t have is synthetic ingredients. You will not find parabens, silicones, gluten, sulfates, mineral oils, artificial colorants or any other kind of toxic ingredients on any Costa Brazil ingredient list. Just powerful oxidants, good minerals, micronutrients and a little bit of dermatologically tested pure magic.
Beauty on the inside and the outside
The Costa Brazil formulas may be inspired by the rainforest but for packaging Francisco Costa took to Italy, to the Arte Povera movement and the Merde D’Artiste cans made by Piero Manzoni. Basically, he liked the idea of creating art out of nothing and he wanted the packaging for Costa Brazil to be more than little bottles and cans, he wanted them to be beautiful, real works of art.
Also crucial when it came to packaging was sustainability. As a result, all packaging is sustainable, recycled and biodegradable whenever possible.
